Journey

  • We at IIIT Hyderabad have officially started our Wikipedia journey on 1st May, 2019. The Telugu Wikipedia project is funded by MeitY and supported by the Telangana government. A comprehensive brainstorming workshop was held on 16 November, 2019, at IIIT Hyderabad campus on "Enhancing Content and Community for Indian languages". The aim was to come up with an action plan to increase the number of Telugu articles on Wikipedia and to make the project accessible to all those who have command on Telugu and passion for their mother tongue by making them partners in the project. It was decided to take the Telugu Wikipedia project (‘TeWiki’) forward under four segments viz. ‘Community Development’, ‘Content Development’, ‘Resource Development’ and ‘Technical Research’.
